Dr. Margarita Kola is an internationally oriented Albanian attorney and legal scholar with more than 15 years of professional experience. She is the Founder and CEO of Kola & Associates Law Firm, where she specializes in Public International Law, International Human Rights Law, Constitutional Law, and complex litigation. Her practice combines sophisticated legal analysis, strategic courtroom advocacy, and a strong commitment to the protection of fundamental rights and the rule of law.
Dr. Kola holds an Erasmus Mundus Master’s Degree in International Law and Human Rights and a PhD in Public International Law. She has extensive experience representing clients before Albania’s highest judicial and constitutional institutions, including the Constitutional Court, the High Court, the Special Court of First Instance and Special Court of Appeal against Corruption and Organized Crime, and the Special Appeals Chamber in judicial disciplinary proceedings. Her work has included complex matters involving judicial accountability, due process, fair-trial guarantees, constitutional rights, and the European Convention on Human Rights. She has also represented clients before the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg.
Her professional background includes service as a Legal Specialist at the U.S. Embassy in Albania. Beyond legal practice, Dr. Kola is active in international human-rights advocacy. She serves as Chair of the Albanian Section of the International Society for Human Rights (ISHR) and Vice-President for Europe of ISHR, contributing to initiatives concerning human rights, judicial independence, institutional accountability, and the rule of law. She regularly participates in international conferences, professional forums, and public discussions on human-rights and rule-of-law developments.
